Yumm . . . Oatmeal Cookies For All

How Great They Taste!

by Marjorie Staples

Oh . . . mother, oh mother . . . how I remember those days of an oatmeal cookie bake. Our little kitchen coming to life. The snowflakes falling outside, too cold to venture out, a Saturday morn - the stage set - all in place for our special treat to be made. The ingredients placed and measured carefully to your directions. Slowly and with love and by hand, we stirred the batter with joy. With the cookie sheet buttered, you allowed me to form the beauties. Once placed, our oatmeal cookies found the old white stove. Aromas filled the air and anticipation grew by minute with delight. And the final act, how wonderful they would taste! Thank you mother for including me in this prized ritual. I'm sure, grandmother did the same for you. Sometimes now, I glimps this beauty only mother and daughter share. Bake some cookies with your daughter today I emphatically suggest!
